# What Is a Good GMAT Score? Percentiles and Targets for 2026

A good GMAT score in 2026 is roughly **645 or higher** on the current 205 to 805 scale, which puts you around the 86th percentile. ## How does GMAT scoring work now?

The current GMAT has three sections, Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights, weighted equally. Because the scale changed, a 700 is no longer even possible.

## What GMAT score do top schools expect?

Both accept only test-centre GMAT or GRE scores ([ISB](https://www.isb.edu/programmes/post-graduate-programmes/pgp-in-management/application-deadlines), 2026; [IIMB](https://www.iimb.ac.in/admissions/epgp-admissions/admission-process), 2026), and IIMB explicitly includes your test score in its composite evaluation. Aim at or above their recent class averages.

Yes. Admissions teams look at balance. A 645 built on a very strong Quant and a weak Verbal reads differently from a balanced 645. If you are targeting finance or analytics roles, a strong Quant score matters even more.
